Join us congratulating Sallyann Kluz, Carolina Pais-Barreto Thor, David Serafini and Karris Jackson on being elected to serve as Executive Officers, welcoming back Jerry Dickinson to the Board of Directors and thanking Michele Rone Cooper for her service and dedication to our organization!

Executive Officer Elections

Sallyann Kluz will be the Chairperson of our Board, Carolina Pais-Barreto Thor will serve as Board Vice Chairperson. David Serafini and Karris Jackson were elected to serve second terms as Board Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee, Secretary of the Board, respectively! All terms begin January 1, 2021.

Welcome back, Jerry.

We’re pleased to welcome Jerry Dickinson back to the Neighborhood Allies Board of Directors. Jerry previously served on our Board from 2016-2019. Jerry is a professor, lawyer, and legal scholar, focusing his scholarship on constitutional property and the intersection between land use laws, housing and urban development.

Jerry also teaches courses in property, estates and trusts and land, race and property rights at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. His advocacy also intersects with his scholarship and teaching, as he is a former Fulbright Scholar to Johannesburg, South Africa, where he advocated on behalf of inner-city squatters in unlawful removals in South Africa and, while practicing at the law firm Reed Smith LLP in Pittsburgh, Professor Dickinson founded and coordinated the firm’s Housing Rights Project representing indigent tenants in eviction proceedings. Professor Dickinson also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Theodore A. McKee, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Thank you, Michele.

Our beloved Board Chair, Michele Rone Cooper, is retiring after an incredible tenure at McAuley Ministries at the end of the year and will not be seeking term renewal on our Board. It goes without saying that she has been a phenomenal leader for Neighborhood Allies and the Pittsburgh community. So much has been accomplished since she has been our Board Chair and we are eternally grateful for her immense support, guidance and dedication to not only Neighborhood Allies, but the Hill District and Pittsburgh communities across the city.

Thank you to each of our incoming and exiting Board Members for your enthusiasm, expertise and passion for creating healthy, thriving communities across Pittsburgh. We are delighted to call you our allies!
