Financial Empowerment for Individuals with Disabilities Webinar Training Series Kicks Off December 10th!

Dec 3, 2020

When we say “economic opportunity for all,” we really mean for all. Bridging those gaps in opportunity for everyone is the key to begin solving inequities.

As part of the local Financial Inclusion and Disability Awareness Working Group and in partnership with the National Disability Institute and Achieva Family Trust, we are thrilled to be launching a series of educational webinars designed to provide information to representatives of financial institutions, financial coaches and counselors, social workers, and case managers regarding best practices for the engagement of individuals with disabilities and the various financial options that are available to address their financial needs. Designed for financial professionals, and other professionals in the disability community who are assisting individuals to work towards the goal of financial empowerment and independence, the workshops cover topics such as navigating the complexities of the financial systems as a person with a disability, government benefits 101, special needs trusts and ABLE accounts, money management resources, and more. See all available sessions and register for them individually.

Please join us on December 10th from 10AM to 12 PM for the first training! The session will answer questions such as: what are the challenges and barriers someone with a disability may face as they navigate financial stability and participation in the financial mainstream?; What does financial empowerment for a person with a disability look like?; What resources are available in your community to build strong referrals and provide additional services and supports?

Keep up to date on the details of the first workshop by RSVP’ing to the Facebook event! And don’t forget to save your spot on the webinar by registering here.

The Financial Inclusion and Disability Awareness Working Group welcomes and encourages more local financial institutions to join them. Contact Sarah at sarah@neighborhoodallies.org to get involved and be included on future invitations.
