Neighborhood Allies and The Richard King Mellon Foundation Hosted New Markets Tax Credit 101 Workshop

On DSCF0144March 26, 2015, more than 75 people attended the one-day training workshop for developers, nonprofits, lenders, accountants and others to provide a comprehensive overview of the New Markets Tax Credit Program (NMTC).

Novogradac & Company, a national certified public accounting and consulting firm, called upon their NMTC experts to design and lead the workshop.  The agenda included a comprehensive overview of the NMTC program including how it works, the key components, the role of the investors and other players in the transaction.  The presenters providedDSCF0121 detailed discussion on how NMTC transactions are structured and walked the attendees through successful NMTC projects completed in Pittsburgh including the Thelma Lovett YMCAWood Street Commons and East End Cooperative Ministries. The workshop was a great opportunity to educate local partners and connect people to resources to revitalize Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods.
