Fund My Future PGH, a college and post-secondary savings program for children, on Monday said it is now operating under the umbrella of Neighborhood Allies and aims to start 200,000 youth savings accounts in Allegheny County.

The program’s goal is to increase economic mobility and social equity for local families.

Fund My Future was created by the Propel Schools Foundation in 2013 to support families in its 13 charter schools. In 2017, the initiative expanded throughout Allegheny County and in 2020, it partnered with the Pennsylvania Treasury Department to make the opportunity available to families across the commonwealth.

Prior to transitioning to Neighborhood Allies, Fund My Future grew to over 9,000 participants, including over 4,000 in Allegheny County.

Families join the program by taking the savings pledge and opening a long-term savings account online at a local bank or credit union branch. They receive a raffle ticket each month and are eligible to win prizes if they make a deposit of $1 or more into the child’s account. There are $8,000 in prizes available monthly.
