Capital Ready Workshop Helps Aspiring Developers become Fundable Partners

Jun 5, 2026

We recently partnered with Bridgeway Capital to host a 3-session workshop designed specifically for graduates of our Real Estate Co-Powerment series who are ready to embark on their development journey, Bridgeway Capital clients preparing to apply for financing, and any emerging developers looking for additional guidance on bringing their real estate project(s) to life. It addressed the needs of those who have a clear project vision but lack the tools to make it investable.

Taught by long-time developer Steffan Johnson, the course covered topics such as creating developer identities and sponsor profiles, how to build a pro forma and position your capital stack, and creating stellar packaging to bring the projects to potential lenders.

Participants walked away with a host of resources, such as a pro form template and capital stack framework for their next project, a complete submission package checklist tailored to CDFI and bank underwriting standards, guidance on tools and systems, and more!

Overall, participants found the workshop useful, with 85% of survey respondents rating their experience as “very good.” Additionally, 92% of respondents said that they had more confidence in the capital structuring process as a result of this program. Here are a few testimonials from participants about the course:

“The information provided a missing puzzle piece in my investment journey.”

“Being in the Co-Powerment series has opened doors and introduced me to key persons throughout the city.”

“I’ve been through the Co-Powerment series and have been studying multifamily investment. This session gave me the knowledge necessary to get funding.”

Our biggest piece of feedback from participants when asked how we could improve future sessions? More time. 64% said they would prefer longer sessions and/or more sessions.

With 30+ participants in attendance each week, the demand for resources such as these is clear. We are proud to continue finding new and innovative ways to support local community developers.
