In March 2024, Tyian Battle reached out to the Neighborhood Allies real estate team with a vision: deliver quality affordable housing to the neighborhood she grew up in. Tyian’s commitment to building up her community had long been evident through her work as the Founder of ACH Clear Pathways, a non-profit she launched in 2010 dedicated to improving the lives of youth and family through visual and performing arts.
Neighborhood Allies partnered with Tyian early in her development journey through a combination of developer education, technical assistance, predevelopment support, and access to catalytic capital. After participating in our Real Estate Co-Powerment Series, she continued to refine her project concept, navigate development challenges, and build the partnerships necessary to move the project forward.
The hard work paid off in a major way recently, as Tyian closed on the financing of the project that will deliver 4 new, family-sized units of affordable housing to the Hill District. That financing included the latest equity investment made by Neighborhood Allies and our Neighborhood Capital program, in the amount of $235,000.

An overview of Neighborhood Allies’ support to date:
- Developer education through the Real Estate Co-Powerment Series, a program designed to provide emerging developers just like her with a blueprint for getting real estate development projects from ideation to completion;
- A predevelopment grant for $15,000;
- Technical assistance that led to $375,000 in additional funding leveraged towards the project;
- And now, a $235,000 equity investment from our Neighborhood Capital Program
