The Employment and Training Advisory Board (ETAB) hosted the first Homeless and Employment Services Forum on May 2, 2016 at Allegheny County Department of Human Services.
The forum provided an opportunity for homeless services providers and employment and training services to better understand each other’s work, recognize the challenges and systematic barriers the homeless face in obtaining and maintaining employment.
“This forum will create an environment for learning between providers of distinct services and make connections that will ultimately improve the experience for clients.”
-Sarah Dieleman Perry, Program Manager for Economic Opportunity
75 people attended the day-long event that included a keynote address by Daniel Bull of Zero Six Eight, breakout sessions, and a consumer panel. All three of Neighborhood Allies’ Financial Opportunity Centers had representation on a panel of experts and discussed the importance of providing financial coaching assistance to homeless job seekers to increase their chances at reaching their goals.
