Mar 11, 2025

Neighborhood Allies Charts Bold Path Forward with 2025-2027 Strategic Plan and 10-Year Anniversary Celebration

For the past decade, Neighborhood Allies has been at the forefront of community-driven transformation in Pittsburgh. As the organization celebrates ten years of impact, it is also looking ahead with the launch of its 2025-2027 Strategic Plan—a roadmap designed to expand opportunities, drive investment, and ensure that Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods remain vibrant, resilient, and equitable.

The ambitious plan aims to move 100,000 low-to-moderate income Pittsburghers up the socio-economic ladder over the next decade. To achieve this, Neighborhood Allies is focusing on economic mobility, workforce empowerment, mental health advocacy, and regional community development—key pillars that will shape its work moving forward.

Building on Progress: Key Goals for the Next Three Years

Neighborhood Allies is setting bold targets to continue its mission of neighborhood reinvestment and empowerment:

  • $9 million investment in grants, equity investments, and small business support.
  • $30 million leveraged to strengthen partner organizations.
  • 10,000 training sessions focused on financial empowerment, digital skills, mental health, and neighborhood development.
  • 7,000 hours of technical assistance to support community organizations and small businesses.
  • 150 convenings of key partners to align efforts and tackle systemic challenges.

“Our strategic plan positions us not only as a convener and catalyst for change but as a regional model for equitable and sustainable neighborhood development,” said Stephanie Miller, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Neighborhood Allies.

Milestone Achievements: Laying the Foundation for the Future

Since 2021, Neighborhood Allies has made significant strides in fostering socio-economic mobility and community development, including:

  • $6 million invested in community-driven real estate, leveraging over $37 million in additional funding.
  • 1,000 jobs created or retained for Pittsburgh residents.
  • 3,500 residents receiving free financial counseling through the Allegheny County Financial Empowerment Center.
  • 7,500 families supported through digital inclusion programs.

A Decade of Difference: Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future

To mark ten years of impact and lay the groundwork for the future, Neighborhood Allies has launched A Decade of Difference—a movement celebrating the organization’s lasting contributions to Pittsburgh’s communities. More than just a reflection on past achievements, this initiative seeks to elevate the voices of changemakers, highlight powerful stories of transformation, and ignite momentum for the next decade of progress.

The celebration will culminate in a special event on May 7, 2025, bringing together partners, stakeholders, and residents to recognize a decade of meaningful change and rally around a shared vision for the future.

“This milestone is about more than reflection—it’s about momentum,” said Presley Gillespie, President and CEO of Neighborhood Allies. “We’re looking ahead to the next decade with renewed focus, deeper collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods are places of opportunity for all.”

Neighborhood Allies invites the community to engage, share their stories, and help shape the next ten years by participating in A Decade of Difference activities and the anniversary celebration.
