On Friday, February 13th, family, friends, and partners gathered in the Hill District for the groundbreaking of Cliffside Overlook, a new construction project that will bring four new units of affordable housing to Cliff Street.
As the Founder and Executive Director of ACH Clear Pathways, Tyian led the revitalization of the historic Kaufman Center. That experience–raising funds, managing construction, and seeing a major project through to completion—sparked “a burning desire to become a developer.”
A few years later, Tyian purchased her first investment property, completed interior renovations as well as added a new roof, and began renting it out to traveling nurses. Soon after, she began work to purchase the parcels of land across the street, which would become Cliffside Overlook.
As a partner, Neighborhood Allies has provided:
- A $15,000 pre-development grant to cover the costs of architectural design services and attorney fees.
- Knowledge and networking guidance in the form of our Real Estate Co-Powerment Series, which Tyian graduated from in 2024.
- Technical assistance in applying for the PHARE grant, which resulted in the leveraging of an additional $150,000 towards the project.
The new units are being built on the same street that Tyian grew up on, making the endeavor that much more special.
Tyian’s mother, along with several other family members, attended the groundbreaking in celebration of this wonderful achievement.
“This is the generational wealth I am fighting for,” Tyian said after her son spoke to attendees about how proud he is of his mother.
We are proud to be partners of this project and of Tyian! Stay tuned as construction begins, led by Massaro Construction Group alongside Half The Battle, LLC.!
