In May, Neighborhood Allies launched its third Bank On integration with financial education workshops starting up at Allegheny County Jail. Bank On works to connect people to safe and affordable bank accounts through strategic partnerships that streamline the account opening process. This newest integration, a collaboration between Neighborhood Allies, Allegheny County Jail, First Commonwealth Bank, and Reimagine Reentry, aims to provide account opening opportunities and financial education to incarcerated individuals and those re-entering society post incarceration.
On Wednesday May 28th, Javier Janik, Senior Program Manager for Economic Opportunity and Investment at Neighborhood Allies, participated in a panel discussion at the 2025 Bank On National Conference in Washington D.C. During the panel discussion, titled “Account Access for Hardest to Reach Populations,” Javier spoke about the unique challenges incarcerated and re-entering individuals face in their financial empowerment journeys, as well as how some of those challenges can be overcome.
