LISC Awards $110,000 Grant to Neighborhood Allies to Support the Centralized Real Estate Accelerator

Jun 16, 2020

This grant from Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) will support the hiring of a Director of Real Estate Services and allow us to create a comprehensive community-based real estate model designed to increase the capital flow, economic opportunity and quality of life to traditionally under-served residents.

The Centralized Real Estate Accelerator, an initiative of Neighborhood Allies, seeks to accelerate, scale, and sustain a more strategic real estate development system, with a dedicated support platform designed to benefit all residents. The goal is to build capacity to create a new Community Development System to enhance social mobility and build wealth for the residents living in under resourced, low-income communities. The grant will focus on bolstering the work of Community Development partners to revitalize neighborhoods that result in empowered, engaged, and connected residents and a mobilized, effective high-capacity community investment system.

A core component of the accelerator is our Shared Real Estate Talent program, which supports community-based development activities by providing mentoring, technical assistance and high-impact services to small-scale developers. This mentoring also helps community-based developers to access the networks and forge the relationships needed to succeed. Another critical elementof the accelerator is the Real Estate Co-Powerment Series that we co-created with Omicelo Cares. The Co-Powerment Series is an education platform designed to demystify the real estate development process through class instruction, coaching and mentoring to create more neighborhood-centric investment.

We are in the process of seeking capital to support the Centralized Real Estate Accelerator and hope to launch it later this year! Stay tuned!
