Stargell Field, a site for youth baseball and softball in Homewood, was in desperate need of some support to ensure the facility is in safe condition for play, and help to salvage the season for the kids in Homewood. Pittsburgh’s 2nd Platoon organized over 40 volunteers that came out to set up a removable home run fence and paint the concessions area to get the field ready for the upcoming baseball season! The community came out in full swing and it was an amazing day of service and community pride.

“We certainly still have a lot of work to do, but the inspiration and community support in Homewood is tremendous. We were able to spend time speaking to the community members, hearing their insights and dreams about how to best impact the Homewood community and are looking forward to working with them and helping make their visions a reality!”

Stephanie Grimes, City Impact Manager, The Mission Continues

The work of the 2nd Pittsburgh Platoon in Homewood is made possible through a 2015 Catalytic Grant from Neighborhood Allies.
