Neighborhood Allies Welcomes Ibrahim Emara as ACC AmeriCorps Member

Aug 31, 2023

Please join us in welcoming Ibrahim to the Neighborhood Allies Team!

We are delighted to welcome Ibrahim Emara, who will be joining us as a member of American Connection Corps (ACC) AmeriCorps, a national service program that aims to bridge the nation’s digital divide. He will be working directly with Itha Cao and Karen Lue of the Digital Inclusion and Innovation team, as well as supporting programs like Get Online and Grow Online (GOGO).

Ibrahim joins us as a recent graduate of the American University in Dubai (AUD), where he majored in International Relations. He distinguished himself with multiple Dean’s List honors and took on a leadership role as a Director of Committees at the university’s Model United Nations. His academic achievements also extend to his research: he is a prospective author with his undergraduate thesis due for publication this fall in the NYU American Public Policy Review.

Prior to joining our team, Ibrahim served as an intern in the faith-based philanthropy unit at the Dubai office of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. There, he was instrumental in enhancing the faith-based program’s online presence by executing social media content plans in multiple languages, in addition to making significant contributions to their annual reports, among numerous other key roles. His commitment to advancing social justice and economic development through public policy shines through his past work and academic accomplishments.

Through his service year with ACC AmeriCorps, Ibrahim aims to use his skill set to advance the program’s broader goal of ensuring communities across the country have the information technology capacity that is needed for full participation in today’s economy and society. This falls right in line with our organization’s mission, as Ibrahim will work on projects advancing digital access and adoption to those who we serve in the greater Pittsburgh area. Ibrahim is also excited to collaborate with colleagues from other departments in order to be out in the community and interact with residents.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Ibrahim as he embarks on this service year with Neighborhood Allies, which is proud to be an ACC AmeriCorps host site for the first time.
