The Homewood Experience

Description

The Homewood Experience is a media and branding campaign intended to drive a more positive public image for Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood and to celebrate its history and future as a center for Black culture.

Goal of the Program

The project is intended to both uplift the voices and spirit of Homewood’s residents while also driving visitors and positive attention from outside the community in the neighborhood.

What We Provide

After two years of deep community engagement and true collaboration between our project team, community-based organizations, and Homewood residents past and present, we held an unveiling on September 19, 2021. The project includes an Art Walk through the community with brand new murals by Camo Nesbit, banners of famous Homewood community members, a website, a docu-short, and 3 original songs written and recorded about the neighborhood by youth from the YMCA Lighthouse Project.
