As Program Manager for Real Estate Services, Tariq assists in coordinating and connecting partners to our real estate programming and other partner organizations. He also works to develop curriculum and manage logistics for community workshops (namely our Real Estate Co-Powerment series) and track impact for programs such as the Centralized Real Estate Accelerator and Neighborhood Capital Fund. Ultimately, Tariq ensures that community developers and business owners can forge long-term outcomes designed to benefit all residents through our suite of comprehensive real estate programs.


Q: What does your work at Neighborhood Allies look like day-to-day?:

A: “Organizing the Real Estate Co-Powerment series and implementing feedback from alumni to improve the overall experience of the course. Making sure all the logistics are in place for the next cohort. Reaching out to instructors and alumni continuing the relationships to see if I can help or assist with anything real estate related they have going on.    I also work with our individual CREA clients offering technical assistance on various projects. As of lately have been helping clients fill financial gaps for their project by finding different revenue sources for their capital stack.”

    Q: What is a project you are currently working on? 

    A: “Currently building out the curriculum for advanced courses of the Real Estate Co-Powerment series. Also working to bring together all the Rel Estate Co-Powerment alumni for a mixer where they can network and continue to Co-Power each other on out real estate journey.”

    Q: What unique experience do you bring to your role?:

    A: “The most unique experience I bring to my role is I have actually gone through the very program that I run. I now have skin in the game and experience in getting a project started and completed. I applied the information, and it has served me well which is why I am passionate about continuing the growth of the program.”

    Q: What is your favorite part about working at Neighborhood Allies?: 

    A: “The best part of working at Neighborhood Allies is the team. Everyone is doing great things in the community. We all offer support where needed and always reminded to be great. This is not a place where you dread coming to work but you want to exceed expectations and are given all the support to do so.”

    Q: If you could swap roles with anyone on the team for a day, whose role would you choose and why?

    A: “I think I would swap roles with our CEO Presley Gillespie to be a part of all the moving pieces that keeps this Organization moving and thriving in the community and in the nonprofit space in general.”

    Q: What neighborhood do you live in and why do you love it?: 

    A: I live in Penn Hills, its affordable and has room for growth.

    Q: What is your favorite thing to do when not at work?: 

    A: “Spend time with my family and golfing. I’m new to it and becoming obsessed with the challenge to master the game.”
