Public Art and Communities

Description

The Public Art and Communities (PAC) program is a partnership between Neighborhood Allies, the Office of Public Art, and the Borough of Millvale that supports the development of place-based strategies and temporary artworks that are responding to both the COVID-19 pandemic and its intersection with other critical public health issues.

PAC engages artists to collaborate with communities to address their needs through public art and creative placemaking practices. This program builds upon our previous partnership with the Office of Public Art – Temporary Public Art and Placemaking (TPAP), which aimed to reduce the challenges of blight, harness creative cultural potential, and help reenergize and reshape how residents imagine their neighborhoods.

Goal of the Program

The overall goal of this program is to connect local organizations with artists to develop, design and implement a temporary public art project that responds to a need in the organization’s community.

What We Provide

In addition to overall program management, Neighborhood Allies staff serve as Project Managers to the collaborative organization – artist teams, acting as guides through the public art process.

How to Engage

Interested in learning more about our organizational partners and where they are in the PAC process?  Check out our organization – artist teams here. If you are from one of these communities, and have a desire to get involved in the engagement process, please connect with our Senior Program Manager for Social Impact Design, Tamara Emswiler at tamara@neighborhoodallies.org.
