Stephanie Miller is the Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at Neighborhood Allies, where she leads the planning, execution, and management of strategic operational and financial initiatives to ensure the organization’s long-term success and sustainability.

With over 25 years in the nonprofit sector, Stephanie has held numerous leadership roles focused on leveraging economic resources to support community and economic development, as well as local arts communities. She brings expertise in operational excellence, financial management, real estate, and capacity building and has secured over $200 million in grants and resources throughout her career.

In addition to her role at Neighborhood Allies, Stephanie serves as Board Chair for Main + Elm Development Company, a mission-driven organization dedicated to equitable real estate development, affordable housing, and community-building.

Before joining Neighborhood Allies, Stephanie worked briefly with UPMC as a proposal manager, writer, and quality assurance manager. She also served as Deputy Director of Economic Development South (EDS), overseeing operations and financial management across 13 municipalities in Allegheny County and securing over $22 million in funding for local initiatives.

Prior to transitioning into the community and economic development space, Stephanie built extensive experience in arts management, spanning operations, marketing, and fundraising. She worked with organizations like City Theatre and the Weinberg Center for the Arts, where she helped oversee day-to-day operations, developed and executed marketing strategies to enhance audience engagement, and played a key role in fundraising campaigns to secure critical resources for arts spaces and programs. Her work in arts management expanded cultural programs and creative initiatives, shaping her ability to approach complex systems with fresh, innovative, and strategic solutions.

Stephanie holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Hood College and a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies and Comparative Urbanism from the University of Pittsburgh. She is also certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council.

In 2020, she was named one of Pittsburgh Magazine’s “40 Under 40” for her significant contributions to both her field and her community. Beyond her work in community and economic development, Stephanie is on a mission to see as much live music as possible—preferably outdoors. When she’s not at a show, she’s digging through crates for vinyl treasures, thrifting for hidden gems, wandering through nature with her pup, catching up with friends over a great meal, or diving into a new book. She’s always up for exploring new places and believes the best way to experience a city is one local spot at a time.
