Ibrahim serves with the Digital Inclusion and Innovation team as a member of the American Connection Corps (ACC), an AmeriCorps program that aims to bridge the nation’s digital divide. He led an outreach campaign engaging over 2,600 residents with the ACP — a government subsidy that once provided eligible households a $30 discount on their monthly internet bill plus a $100 discount on a connected device — explaining its benefits and enrolling some eligible households along the way.

He currently works with the team to identify and create opportunities to enhance digital literacy skills among dozens of adult learners through hands-on teaching. He also plays a key role in planning and executing digital skills training events, tracking metrics for affordable internet outreach efforts, and collaborating on innovative pilot programs supporting digital inclusion workforce initiatives.

Additionally, Ibrahim works with the Greater Pittsburgh Digital Inclusion Alliance (GPDIA) on the Digital Inclusion Asset Map, a comprehensive public directory of digital inclusion resources in the Pittsburgh region. This tool aims to identify ‘digital deserts’, or areas lacking in digital skills training, to inform a broader strategy empowering the most remote and underserved segments of the county.

Ibrahim also contributes to small businesses’ transition to the digital marketplace through Get Online Grow Online (GOGO). Specifically, Ibrahim completed and restructured the existing MWBE database for improved usability and access for Neighborhood Allies staff. Since accessible data on MWBEs in Pittsburgh is scarce, this ensures our staff has a streamlined resource that will facilitate more targeted investments and create long-term growth and sustainability for these businesses.

Ibrahim joined Neighborhood Allies after his time at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Dubai, UAE. There, he worked in the faith-based philanthropy unit to improve the program’s online presence, create multilingual social media content, and contribute to annual reports for programs impacting 6+ million displaced people globally.

Beyond his ACC AmeriCorps service, Ibrahim has been published multiple times, including in the NYU American Public Policy Review and Dialogue – UNHCR Global Staff Council Magazine. Recently, an interview he conducted with StoryCorps was archived in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.

Ibrahim has a bachelor’s degree from the American University in Dubai (AUD) where he majored in International Relations, earned multiple Dean’s Honor List distinctions, and took on a leadership role as a Director of Committees at the university’s Model United Nations.
