As Senior Program Manager of Digital Inclusion and Innovation, Karen helped complete two state-of-the-art digital inclusion centers in Homewood and continues partnerships with STEAM and digital literacy program providers across the Pittsburgh region. She also leads the new adult digital skills program, developing curriculum and teaching free digital skills classes across multiple sites in the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. Karen serves on numerous regional coalitions and working groups including the Greater Pittsburgh Digital Inclusion Alliance (GPDIA), the Pittsburgh Digital Equity Coalition (PDEC), and Welcoming Communities through the City’s Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs.
Prior to joining Neighborhood Allies, Karen spent three years as the inaugural Pitt Global Hub Manager at the University of Pittsburgh, where she developed all processes for a student-centered resource and programming space focused on global and international engagement. She has also gained extensive operations and project management through her roles at Beauty Shoppe, a Pittsburgh-based co-working operator, and Indiewalls, an art consultancy in NYC.
Karen is a practicing artist and curator who works to uplift marginalized voices in the local arts community. She was an inaugural Visual Arts Coalition for Equity (VACE) Fellow (2021) and has curated and led programming with the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Shiftworks, and the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Karen was awarded the Keystone Award Honorable Mention (2023) through Silver Eye Center for Photography and has exhibited at SPACE Gallery, Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media, and Assemble, among others.
She was a 2015-2016 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan and received her B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. Karen has also completed coursework through the Graduate School for Public and International Affairs and aims to combine her public administration knowledge with her project management skills, creativity, and passion for community-building in her work at Neighborhood Allies. She is currently pursuing her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and serves on the board of the Alliance for Refugee Youth Support and Education (ARYSE).
