Deepening Our Investment Through Neighborhood Capital

Jun 10, 2025

At Neighborhood Allies, we believe equitable development happens when residents—especially those historically excluded from decision-making—have access to the tools, resources, and capital they need to shape the future of their own neighborhoods. That’s the vision behind Neighborhood Capital, our initiative to invest community-rooted real estate projects that prioritize affordability, ownership, and inclusive growth.

With renewed multi-year support from McAuley Ministries, we’re building on that mission with fresh momentum. A new $1.8 million grant commitment will support the next three years of Neighborhood Capital, enabling us to provide early-stage capital and hands-on technical assistance to help local developers bring their visions to life—especially in neighborhoods where long-term commitment and trust are essential.

This grant is more than a financial commitment—it reflects a partnership over a decade in the making. McAuley Ministries has stood beside us from the beginning, investing not just in projects, but in people, neighborhoods, and long-term change. Their continued belief in our work is a testament to the power of consistent, values-aligned collaboration.

Over the next three years, this support will allow us to:

  • Advance 6 community-led development projects in neighborhoods across the Greater Hill District

  • Leverage $8 million in additional public and private funding

  • Create or preserve 20 units of affordable housing

  • Support 5 neighborhood businesses to launch or expand

  • Deliver 600+ hours of technical assistance to 6 local developers

  • Train 20 aspiring developers through Co-Powerment and technical support programs

Neighborhood Capital was launched in 2022 to address a growing need: developers with deep ties to their communities often lack access to the early funding and support they need to succeed. By combining flexible capital with expert guidance, we’re helping these leaders bring transformative projects to life—projects that reflect the vision, character, and priorities of their neighborhoods.

We’re proud to continue this work with McAuley Ministries by our side and excited about the impact we’ll make—together—in the years ahead.
