Neighborhoods
Targeted Investments & Deep Relationships
When we relaunched in 2014, we made a 10-year commitment to prioritize and focus resources towards six geographies in the Pittsburgh area. Seven years after our relaunch, our organization is well-positioned and able to offer our suite of programs to residents and neighborhoods across the Pittsburgh area and even region. We have learned how to effectively and efficiently develop, replicate, scale and deploy our resources so that we are able to reach more communities and more residents. Still, we remain committed to expanding our resources to accelerate, scale and sustain the work of our community partners to create equitable neighborhoods of opportunity in these six focus communities:
1. Hilltop 2. Hill District 3. Homewood |
4. Larimer 5. Millvale 6. Wilkinsburg |

Creating on Ramps to Opportunities and Equitable Resources
Everyone deserves to live in a resilient, thriving, and equitable neighborhood. Unfortunately, many experience difficult realities based on their access to opportunity. While many of our resources and programs now reach beyond these six geographies, we remain committed to accelerating, scaling and sustaining the work of our community partners to create equitable neighborhoods of opportunity in these six focus communities. This means, 1) developing and focusing capacity and resources in these communities, especially when resources are limited, 2) creating and maintaining deep, trustful partnerships with resident leaders and community-serving organizations, 3) understanding neighborhood conditions and demographics to match each neighborhood with the right resources at the right time.
Using our Healthy Neighborhoods Framework to prioritize change efforts and guide our resources, we invest in and help to build and maintain healthy neighborhoods by equitably cultivating Market Confidence, Quality of Life, a Celebrated Neighborhood Image and Community Ownership in these communities. To accomplish this, we must first understand the trends and patterns that characterize our communities.
